She's not really into gaming but we've been looking for something to play together. Found this game for just 149INR so I bought it straight away.
My laptop's got decent specs, so should it run smoothly with an i5 1235u and 8gb ram?

It's a really fun game. Maybe lowering the settings and resolution will help it run better.
Honestly, I don't think it'll work that well. It'll barely load on those specs. The recommended specs are 16 GB RAM, i5 3570k or equivalent, and at least a GTX 960 with 2 GB VRAM.
I've got the same laptop and yeah, it works fine on low settings
Do you guys all have girlfriends or what?
If you want to play with your girlfriend, it's better to get It Takes Two instead of A Way Out.
This game's a great way to test how strong your relationship is.
You're probably better off playing this with your best friend or brother, it's that kind of game. It Takes Two is more suitable for playing with your girlfriend.
You should totally try playing Minecraft, you and your girlfriend can learn it together and have fun without worrying about the graphics settings. Otherwise, try lowering the settings, it might work, because that U in your processor means it's ultra low power, which is great for battery life but not so great for performance.
This isn't the best game for a girl who doesn't really play games
