Title: 2025 grad struggling for interview calls after 1000s of apps
Post by: Madhav on May 07, 2026, 04:41 AM
So I'm a 2025 graduate currently working as an SDE-1 at a US-based crypto fintech startup. The environment is pretty hectic and toxic since it's run by the founder alone. I've been trying to switch jobs for the last 3-4 months. Applied to thousands of positions, but barely get any interview calls, and the one I did get fell through. At this point I'm trying to understand what I'm doing wrong - need honest resume feedback, any openings you know of, and what should I do? I'm really confused.

Don't be hard on yourself, you're not doing anything wrong, my friend. I know 2020 grads who are still stuck at home. I'm a 2022 grad myself, and some of my classmates got jobs for a while but are unemployed now. Youth unemployment is at its highest worldwide. The job market is tough, especially with all the layoffs. You could look into freelancing, but that's tough too, so maybe plan an alternative career - something I wish I'd done earlier. I'm considering options in my native tier-2 town - trade union, government jobs, agriculture - whatever works. I can still do recreational programming, so not everything is bad.

First impression: the text is too dense and there are too many bold letters, which makes it look messy. Use better spacing and a clean, eye-friendly format.

Please don't say it's only IITians facing this.

Your resume lists a lot of technologies like Java, C++, MERN, Python, which can look like you're just throwing in buzzwords. Instead, highlight the tech stack you're most comfortable with and have solid experience in. Picking a specific stack and keeping your resume focused will make it stronger and more credible.

Hey, I'm from IIT Kharagpur and in the same boat. Can we connect for job prep? My company might have layoffs soon, so I want to be ready. I'm ranked 1700 on Codeforces and want to start practicing LLD and HLD.

Don't use a single resume that lists all your skills together. Create separate resumes for each tech stack and apply according to the job description - that will definitely improve callbacks. If possible, tailor each resume to the specific JD you're applying for.

What's the ATS score of your resume?

Have you tried reordering sections of your resume to see what works? Also, tailor it to the JD - that can help. If that still doesn't bring results, referrals are the way to go. The market is rough. Hang in there and survive.
