So my parents went back to our hometown and my boyfriend stayed over. We were intimate, and my mom knew we were dating and that he was visiting, but she didn't know he was actually staying the night. My boyfriend and I checked every corner before they came back, but mom still found a torn condom wrapper on the sheets and a take‑out dinner cover with tissues and another torn wrapper inside. I've tried everything – blaming a friend (she never comes over), saying it was a wrong order, even making balloons. My boyfriend and I really want to make it work, but mom won't listen and told me to cut him off completely (she used to like him a lot). You know your parents aren't clueless, right? My hubby (back when he was just a boyfriend in college) used to come over once a week to study. We thought we were clever – keeping the door open and all that. Looking back now, I cringe at the excuses we gave for studying. An aunt even confirmed they knew. Your parents were teenagers and young adults once too. Own up if you can without causing more trouble, or just accept she'll be what she is – don't make up stories, it'll only make things worse.

I was in the same spot. My cousin's sister found a stash in my bag, showed it to my mom while I was out of town. Since then my mom has been hating my boyfriend, she has endless complaints. I tried to spin a story but it's never going to change her mind.
