Title: Raja Shivaji – missing title translations
Post by: Kavitha on May 05, 2026, 07:00 PM
Hey folks! I'm basically an American who tries to watch movies that aren't in my language. I love Baahubali and Dhurandhar, so I guess I should broaden my horizons, but I wanted to check out the new Marathi action film. I watched it today, and although the dialogues have subtitles, there are many onscreen titles for characters that aren't subtitled. I feel like I'm missing something important?

Yeah, that can really pull you out of the experience. In movies like Raja Shivaji, a lot of the context comes from those titles, so it's natural to feel like you're missing something important.

Those are the names of the characters – actual historical figures. You won't miss much if you watch it just as a film. But if you want to dive into the real history, I can share the characters' names with you.
