Title: Unpopular opinion: SRK’s underrated comic timing
Post by: Deepika on May 04, 2026, 09:59 PM
SRK might actually be up there when it comes to comedy, and I don't think people talk about that enough. I was watching a few of his movies recently – Chennai Express and some others – and realised it's not just the dialogues that are funny. It's the way he delivers them.

He has this odd habit of stuttering a bit, pausing mid‑sentence, or just dropping random words, and it somehow makes everything way funnier. It feels random yet natural, like he's genuinely reacting in the moment instead of following a script.

Many actors rely on good writing for comedy, but with him the delivery does most of the work. His timing is razor‑sharp, and that hesitation before finishing a line hits harder. Even his facial expressions play a big role; sometimes he looks confused or reacts before he's even finished speaking, and that alone makes the scene laugh‑worthy.

I feel he's done this across a lot of his films, not just one, but people mostly remember him for romance or drama and overlook this side of him.

What do you all think?

Agree!!
His comic roles get the least talk. Even in movies like HNY, the first 15-20 mins of Ra‑One, Duplicate, K3G, etc., he has his own style. Some may not like it, but it works for me.

One thing I like about SRK is that he gives his best to every genre and loves to experiment. He may not be my top‑pick comedian, but he did a great job in Baadshah and Chennai Express! Even in other movies he pulls it off with aplomb.

Not to compare, but real comic timing reminds me of AB in Amar Akbar Anthony – there's a scene where he takes a severe beating from Vinod Khanna, yet his swagger still dominates.

He needs a strong director to keep him in check; otherwise he tends to over‑act regardless of the genre. I'm a huge fan, but this is a quality that sticks out like a sore thumb.

He might not be as legendary as Akki in comedy, but his timing was solid too. Chennai Express and Duplicate showed SRK's comic potential.

I always applaud SRK for his comic side. He absolutely nails it, especially in Chennai Express – I haven't laughed that hard in a Bollywood film ever since. Even in K3G and K2H2 his comic timing, though brief, is spot‑on. His expressions are usually dead‑on. I love it, particularly in Chennai Express. I'd love to see him do another comedy.

Any joke only lands if the delivery is spot‑on, and yes, he's really good at that.

Badshah is the perfect proof of his comic strength.

No, I'm not Angelina Jolie, I'm just a boy named Rahul.
