If even in a hospital he's not getting any attention, it shows you have to be loud, hyper or dramatic to get better treatment.

He did the right thing by not pulling the sickle out himself. Most people don't realise that removing a knife or any object stuck in the body can cause more damage than leaving it in. A doctor can properly assess the wound and then safely remove the object.
