Sure, let me use my 9-month-old post to farm some more karma.
Gaming, except mobile, is a luxury in India, period.
Well, people will eventually realise this someday.
I would have agreed with you even 9 months ago, lol.
But is gaming really a luxury? The ever-rising hardware specs needed for the newest games have priced me and many others out of gaming, lol.
Gaming on consoles and handhelds (excluding mobile and PC) was and still is a luxury in India - what a stupid take, lmao.
Both are right. Gaming is a luxury right now, but it shouldn't be, which is why these price hikes are unacceptable.
Man, I'm hoping Neural Texture Compression arrives soon; with the way games are coming out, I'm not sure my GPU can handle it any longer.
One thing's clear: prices will probably keep rising in the coming years. Corporates have tasted blood, and there are folks ready to shell out cash - Sony included. With the growing demand for GPUs and RAM, gaming may stay a luxury.
It's not a luxury. People just mis-perceive the cost, so it feels pricey. They'll buy phones for 50-60k but skip a PS5. Many already buy laptops for 40-50k+. You can get a gaming laptop for around 70k that runs almost any game. It's the mindset about gaming that makes it seem like a luxury.
