I'm saying this seriously, he was the smartest kid I know, I was totally sure he'd get under 5k in the advanced exam. He gave his exam on 23rd January 2026, shift 2, and he's from the general EWS category. So like we all know, the response sheets were released in the morning and within 5 minutes he sent me the link to convert it to HTML to check on some website and both of us saw that he got 132 out of 300. Then in the evening, some coaching centers asked for the response sheet to calculate the scores themselves and when he downloaded it again, 10 of his answers had changed and his marks went down to 82 out of 300. I know him really well and I trust him completely, there's no way he tampered with it himself. He emailed NTA a bunch of times and then he got a mail saying they're evaluating his case. A few days later, he got another mail saying he used unfair means and they wanted a handwritten apology note from him, and they even set up a Google Meet call with some officials, but no one showed up and he was left waiting for an hour. Now today, he finally got his result and he's been debarred for 3 years. It's crazy, he's been preparing for JEE for the past 2 years and was doing really well in tests, getting like 97 percentile, but then this happened. What can he do, he doesn't want to take any drastic measures because he's scared of getting into trouble. I know him really well, he's a good kid and he's really sad about the result. What legal steps can he take?

You should post this on the Legal Advice and definitely take it to court, they'll handle it for sure
You should ask a lawyer about this, don't wait too long or it'll get complicated
This is ridiculous, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Is there any way he can take legal action against NTA and get some proof of why his result was flagged like that?
So he's debarred for the years 2026, 2027, and 2028?
This is really frustrating, I don't know what to say, but if the issue doesn't get resolved, maybe he should just focus on preparing for other exams, that's all he can do
It's like, the people who actually cheat never get caught, I hope your friend gets justice
You should post about this on Twitter, we'll retweet it
Everyone's blaming NTA openly, but no one's questioning what if the guy was actually cheating in mock tests and tried to do the same thing in the actual exam. I hate to say it, but just because you hate NTA doesn't mean you should blame them for everything, even if the other guy was in the wrong
I'm a lawyer, first of all, tell your friend not to send any apology note, that'll just make things worse. The best thing he can do is file a Writ Petition in the High Court where he lives or in the Delhi High Court
The whole thing about a handwritten apology note and a Google Meet call with officials sounds really suspicious and I don't think that's how it's supposed to work
