Title: ~1,000 runs, 12 drops, no respect for bowling - a cricket crime today
Post by: Yamini on Apr 26, 2026, 02:42 PM
I'm sorry, but today was a total downer for anyone who cares about bat‑ball balance. We saw nearly 1,000 runs across two matches - it's getting out of hand. With the terrible pitches and those 12 dropped catches, it felt less like the 'best league in the world' and more like a chaotic gully cricket game where fielders just gave up.

Seeing KL Rahul go berserk with 152* at a 200 SR only to end up on the losing side is heartbreaking. When PBKS chased 265 with an over left, you could tell the contest was skewed. I love a good boundary fest, but when 260 isn't even a 'safe' total any more, it's hard to stay excited. I feel sorry for the bowlers - today was a public execution and they deserve an apology for having to bowl on these concrete slabs.

Lowkey sad to see what's happening to the IPL, man. Imagine scoring 230 and still losing - now imagine scoring 260 and still losing with an over left. It's just not fun any more. Hope they scrap the impact‑player rule in the next season.

I want to say Pat Cummins and his crew showed what a good death‑over spell can do. You might not see it on the scorecard, but a quality bowler always makes a difference - same goes for Archer on the RR side.

260 is always a safe total no matter how good the opposition is. It was DC's own mistakes that got them. You can't drop Iyer twice on a flat track. Both games would have been about 30 runs lower if the fielding had been decent.

Umm, didn't you see how Pat Cummins and Archer bowled? You have to adapt.

I need to watch some Test cricket just to reset my brain - today was just too much.

Tomorrow KKR and LSG will try to fix today's mess together.

I strongly agree - there should be balance in the game. Sixes and fours used to be thrilling, now they're just routine. Where did the days of defending 160 go? Now 230s are the par scores. I remember SRH defending even 130 back in 2018, and those matches were incredibly exciting. There needs to be something for bowlers - pitches should support them with gripping surfaces for spinners and grass for seamers.

IPL should learn from the T20 World Cup. It's turned into an Indian batting league, for God's sake.

I mean 12 dropped catches change a lot. If even four or five had been taken, the games would have turned completely. IPL teams need to raise their fielding standards big time. No team is consistent with good fielding, and improving that will slash scores dramatically. That said, flat pitches are terrible for bowlers. I don't mind 200 being a par total, but the surface should give bowlers something to work with so they can defend as easily as batters score. Flat pitches in the Indian summer are just awful for bowling.

No one mentions Pat Cummins, but the guy came back after a long injury, led a solid comeback after RR's early onslaught, bowled a 6.75‑economy spell with a wicket in a run‑fest and won the match - elite stuff.

Patrick James Cummins, man oh man - he returns after an injury layoff and bowls a brilliant spell on a day dominated by batsmen.
