Title: Red spot after bicep workout - what’s it?
Post by: Avni on Apr 26, 2026, 03:37 AM
I noticed this right after my bicep curls. It doesn't hurt, but I'm still worried. Anyone know what causes it and if it's normal?

It could just be skin stretching or a capillary bursting because of the mechanical stress.

Don't stress over every tiny thing, bhai.

Same thing happened to me. Probably a few tiny blood vessels got damaged. Nothing to worry about, it should heal on its own.

I get something similar randomly while sleeping. Is it serious, or could it be from pressure on the hand?

Whoa, it's definitely not a stretch mark. Ignore the other comments. This looks like a bruise. A bruise occurs when tiny blood vessels under the skin break and leak blood. During bicep curls you can get that from a slight muscle strain, micro-tears, pressure from the weights or pushing harder than usual. If you start bruising a lot, see swelling, or the bruise becomes very large, you should see a doctor.

It's not a stretch mark, it's called petechiae. Tiny capillaries under the skin burst and leak blood. This is a normal response when the tissue is under physical stress like weight training. No need to worry, OP.

I'm a medical professional. This shows up after a high-strain workout because the capillaries burst just below the endodermis (the skin layer). It can also appear when the skin is stretched. It's completely harmless and will disappear once the blood clots and is reabsorbed.
