Title: Dot & Key Barrier Repair Face Wash & Moisturizer Review (1 mo)
Post by: Amitabh on Apr 25, 2026, 11:26 PM
I have combination skin. About 1.5 months ago I started noticing dryness on my cheeks, so I thought I'd give it a try. But it did the exact opposite of what its name promises – it wrecked my barrier and made my cheeks even more flaky. First it gave me red breakouts, which later turned dry and flaky. Right now my skin barrier is dry and damaged. I feel like crying. Dot & Key products are a scam. A year ago I used their orange face wash and that also gave me breakouts, so I ended up using it as a body wash. Maybe I chose the wrong one.

Try a non‑foaming cleanser for a while to help repair the barrier – Cleanse Me is my favourite.

If you want an Indian brand that consistently delivers, it's only Minimalist. Other brands have let me down at some point. The main reason I moved from I‑beauty to EU‑beauty and now to K‑beauty is that K‑beauty always lives up to its promises. For me, K‑beauty > EU‑beauty > I‑beauty.

Try a gentle face wash instead of these.

I was torn between Dot & Key Barrier Repair and Minimalist. Thank God I chose Minimalist. I checked Dot & Key's ingredients and saw one that could trigger breakouts on sensitive, acne‑prone skin, so I didn't want to take the risk. The Minimalist face wash I'm using now is good – gentle and cleans well.

Sorry they didn't work for you. This pair is my go‑to in winters because they really work for me. I also have combo‑oily skin and have used three of these sets already – they're pretty basic. Maybe you could try the CeraVe combo; it's quite gentle.

This is the only foaming face wash that didn't dehydrate my dehydration‑prone skin. I had to stop using it though because it contains coconut oil and I have some closed comedones. Any suggestions for a face wash that won't clog pores or strip my dehydrated skin?

This moisturizer is my favourite for night time. Skincare results vary from person to person.

Thanks for the review, OP. I faced the same problem and realised I was using it wrong. I was on the Reequil Ceramide moisturizer which didn't help much, but adding hyaluronic acid or glycerin made a big difference in reducing dryness. You could try the Reequil Ceramide moisturizer together with a hydrating ingredient.

I'm really sorry, OP! That sounds terrible. Hope you're back on track now. Seriously, forget D&K! I love the scent and ease of their melt‑in lip balms, but they're awful – they dry out my lips in 30 minutes. Ugh.

Hey. I'm not sure about the face wash, but the moisturizer works wonders for me. It helped get rid of my dullness and I've bought it about four times. I have dry‑normal skin, by the way.
