Title: Life feels unfair (F,23,Bengaluru)
Post by: Avni on Apr 25, 2026, 07:20 PM
I moved to Bengaluru for a job, hoping to become financially and mentally independent. My parents wanted me to marry a government clerk back home, but I wasn't ready, so I ran away without finishing my graduation. I landed a BPO job with a salary of about 22k and have been living alone in a 1BHK at BTM for a year and a half. At first the language and food were tough, but I've got used to it.

Recently I got some strange offers on dating apps and Reddit. I met a group of girls at a pub who do escort work and earn way more than me. They go to high‑end parties, pubs, and even pull off dating‑app scams to make big money.

Meanwhile I'm stuck in the office, getting scolded by my manager, pressured to meet deadlines, and still earning just 22k a month. Seeing their luxurious lifestyle makes me feel down.

Why should I waste my time and energy at a desk when those girls get iPhones, branded cosmetics, clothes, free trips to hill stations and a lavish life? Why can't I do the same? Bengaluru seems full of quick money. But do I really want to end up as a high‑class prostitute?

I've stopped making friends because scrolling through their Instagram makes me emotional. Sometimes I wonder if morality even matters. I feel lost and don't know what to do.

You're getting scolded by managers, but they might be dealing with angry clients too. So I don't think you should feel too bad.

Can you actually do what those girls are doing? If not, why compare yourself and feel jealous? It's like me comparing my salary with someone at Google – I'm an engineer at a service‑based firm and never studied hard enough to get into a product‑based company.

My first salary was 5k per month as a software developer. A few years back, freshers sometimes earned over 1 lakh per month, so I understand the frustration of earning less than others – but you're overthinking it.

Entertainers get paid a lot – look at movie stars or cricketers. Do they really deserve that much? I can accept cricketers because the Indian team does well, but many movie stars act in bad scripts that add little value to society.

In BLR I met a girl who charges 3‑4k for an hour doing OnlyFans‑type work online. She says on good days she can easily make 10k.

I get why you wonder about the point of grinding every day and going to a toxic office.

My advice: set personal goals and work towards them, starting with small ones. RAKE also helps.

Please don't fall into the comparison trap!

Everything may look good on the surface, but there are hidden downsides.

If you want to earn more, upskill yourself.

They are prostitutes for a reason; keep your morals high, sister.

You're comparing your daily grind to someone else's highlight reel. One path grows slowly but safely, the other burns fast. Choose what you want your life to look like in the next 5‑10 years.

Save cash, take a credit transfer and finish your undergrad. Your earning potential will go up.

Or you could sleep with random people, risk STDs and gain weight from birth‑control pills. You'll get some money.

Comparing yourself with those girls is lame, yaar.

There's no turning back.

You have many options: start building something of your own – home tuition, create content, YouTube.

Good things take time.

If you're not ready for hard work, maybe marriage is a better choice.
