In today's job market, it's either really hard to get a job or to keep the one you have.
If you're out of work or finding it tough to start a career, I'd suggest looking at a BPO job.
Here's why:
1. There's constant hiring because people don't stay long; it's not seen as a prestigious role.
2. If you decide to stay, you can remain as long as you want.
3. The only hiccup is when a company loses projects or contracts, but if you prove reliability and have good communication skills, you'll be moved to other projects.
4. The salary isn't high, but it will cover basic expenses and a little extra – think about 15‑30 k in hand depending on experience and last CTC.
5. This income is better than having no job.
6. It's also good for your sanity; a decent company gives you a chance to stay connected with, or learn about, office life.
7. It's a great chance to improve your communication skills, which are extremely important.
8. If you're already good at communication, you can expect massive growth within the organization.
The only downside is if you need to leave suddenly for another opportunity, but you can negotiate that with HR – that's a win for you.
And yes, there are night or early‑morning shifts...
If you have nothing else, isn't something better?

The work culture can be quite tough and you'll have to handle aggressive customers. I'm not saying you shouldn't explore it, but nothing comes easy – it's tiring work.
Tech Mahindra and many others pay only around 12 k, which shows how low the BPO sector can be.

- You'll handle upwards of 80 calls a day.
- You'll deal with abusive customers.
- Incentives are only given if you meet their benchmarks, which are quite tough to achieve.
