Title: Will antidepressants affect my job prospects?
Post by: Sachin on Apr 24, 2026, 09:41 AM
I went to a psychiatrist at AIIMS because I was having suicidal thoughts and depression. It's not severe now, but it was once and I wanted professional help since I couldn't manage it alone (I have no friends or social circle). I'm now on an antidepressant (sertraline 50mg, an SSRI). I hadn't thought about this before seeing the psychiatrist, but now I want to know if this will affect my career. I'm still an aspirant and will graduate next year, so I can appear for the SSC CGL exam. Can anyone tell me if this will lead to a job rejection? UPSC/SSC/etc.

No rejection as far as CGL is concerned. In case of CPO, while filling the medical form, do not mention any drug in the medical form that they give before medical examination. Enjoy and make some friends, buddy.
