They don't switch on the AC until 6 PM after the trainers arrive, even though the gym opens at 5 PM. Yesterday I felt like I was exercising in a sauna. I tried to get some air from one of the six wall‑mounted table fans, but the breeze never reached me.
I told the trainers several times, but they ignore me. They give me attitude, and the other members just stay quiet.
When they finally turn the AC on, it takes a full two hours - I can't stay till 8 PM.
When this becomes normal in gyms. I have only 15 days left here and I've found a much better place, starting next month.
I pay 1500/- per month, which isn't cheap in my city, especially with today's 40 °C heat.
Taking your money elsewhere is the only thing that will hurt them. If you're paying for an AC‑filled gym, you should get exactly that. Period.
I pay 8k per year, yet there's no sauna and the AC barely works, plus a few fans are broken. Gym standards are really poor here.
That's sad. How many hours do you gym?
Unfortunately some gyms are like this. I used to work out in a gym like this. They literally had everything - state‑of‑the‑art equipment, modern lockers, showers, sauna, huge parking lot etc. But they wouldn't turn on the AC unless there were more than 30 members present. They think they can save on the electricity bill. I ended up leaving.
The gym I used to go to had the same rules - no treadmill for more than 20 min, no AC, no ceiling fans. I was paying 2500 p.m. ffs.
Many gyms do this, but a lot of people don't complain because half the country believes that sweating a lot means a better workout. So they never object. The fact is, training in a temperature‑controlled gym makes you more efficient and you won't get tired as quickly as in a sauna‑like environment.
I work out at 6 AM, and most days I'm the only one there until about 7:30. They actually switch on the AC the moment I arrive.
And before you leave, tell other members and the staff that you're quitting because of these cheap tricks.
Do you guys have AC in your gym?
Leave the gym and post an honest negative review on Google.
