Every time I step out of my house I see a ton of pretty girls, but I hardly ever spot any good-looking boys. What gives?
So true, indeed.
I might get a lot of flak, but as a straight girl I do want guys to look good, and I still think it's pretty true!
Bro, this is so relatable; sometimes I really wonder why I'm straight.
Everyone is pretty; they just need humanity and to make others feel safe and happy around them ❤️.
So true, it's like a 90:10 ratio of pretty girls to pretty boys.
Because of patriarchy, we women spend a lot of time grooming ourselves - taking meticulous care of our looks, body, face, hair. We put in effort about 90% of the time, first because society expects it and now because we genuinely enjoy it. We think about outfits, accessories, makeup, colours, aesthetics, hygiene, skin and hair health, and so on. On the other hand, men just... exist. I have a friend who uses the same soap for his body, hair, clothes and even utensils.
Men just don't put enough effort into grooming.
I have an equal mix of friends, and here's my take: most boys don't care about personal hygiene or grooming to look presentable. For example, almost all my female friends think about what to wear, which accessories to add, and how to do their makeup and hair even for simple outings like going to the office. We iron our dresses, get proper haircuts, wash regularly and apply creams and oils for skin and hair. In contrast, some of my male friends don't even shave their beards, skip showers unless it's 40°C, wear the same house-wear every day and never iron their shirts. They usually cut their hair very short or style it after a favourite footballer or idol, without thinking how it suits them.
It's become ingrained in many men's minds that looking raw and rugged makes them seem masculine, and they think that's how they should be. No sir, you end up looking like a bird's nest.
Maybe because you're straight? No, I see plenty of good-looking men daily, sometimes even more than women, though my location might play a role.
