Title: Episoft SPF 50 - No Thanks! (Too pricey, smelly, greasy)
Post by: Ronit on Apr 21, 2026, 02:01 AM
Disclaimer: this is a rant, not because I'm a hateful person :) - I'm usually easy-going. But this product really got me angry.

I love the Episoft AC moisturiser with micro-encapsulated SPF 30 and have gone through several tubes. So when the SPF 50 version came out, I was thrilled and bought it. It costs as much as the bigger moisturiser but gives far less product, so it feels overpriced. And I hate this sunscreen. It's probably the worst one I've ever put on my face. I can't believe it passed quality checks.

Here are the issues I faced:

1. The very first thing I noticed was the horrific smell. The original moisturiser is fragrance-free, perfect for all skin types. This sunscreen reeks like a chemistry lab or a medicine shop - a strong chemical odor that even people around me could smell.

2. It's nothing like the AC moisturiser. It feels more like a silicone-based primer but gives none of the primer benefits. Tiny white granules make it a siliconey mess that suffocates my skin. It never absorbs; it just sits on top like a layer of solidified oil - a nightmare in summer.

3. I tried to set it with compact powder to cut the greasiness, but as soon as it met the powder it pilled badly and turned into powdery beads. So I can't even set it with powder.

4. Crazy high price for a smelly, greasy cream.

(Sorry Episoft, I still love your AC moisturiser.) This product just doesn't work for me. I can't even keep it on my arms because of the smell and grease. Money down the drain. I'd like the Episoft team to make the original AC formula available with SPF 50 too! The moisturiser is pure gold, while this sunscreen feels criminally bad.

Thanks for listening to my TED talk.

I ended up using it on my feet because it was super greasy and weird. I'll definitely stay away from this one now.

My eyes started burning like hell after using it continuously - they kept tearing and swelling
