GDP alone means nothing if you look at the per-capita income of the nations surrounding India on that list.
A developed nation is pulling ahead of us. What the f**k is our government doing..
They favour just two industrialists and make them richer. They brag about being the 4th largest economy, avoid talking about per-capita income, keep shouting the same claim, and then lose the spot they marketed like their life depended on it.
For the tenth time, GDP doesn't matter much without looking at per-capita figures...
Whether you're blue-collar or white-collar, most Indians still prefer moving to countries with lower GDPs on this list because the quality of life, infrastructure and overall living standards are better.
For those who say nominal GDP isn't the right metric for growth, you're partly right but missing a few points. India's geopolitical clout only shines when we have strong absolute numbers. When nominal GDP rises, our military budget goes up, exports grow proportionally, and we get a bigger say in global affairs. That's why China isn't easily bullied by the US, while India still feels the pressure. (There are other nuances too.)
I'll judge my country by its development level, not just numbers, thanks.
This is a 2026 projection, not 2025 data.
The UK managed it by pushing petrol prices up, worsening petrol poverty.
The rupee is weakening and we might even slip out of the G7 club.
