Title: BSc & BA grads, share your non‑teaching jobs
Post by: Pavithra on Apr 09, 2026, 08:54 AM
Hey folks with BSc or BA degrees, where are you working right now, apart from teaching? I've noticed most of us end up in teaching or government jobs. Many say academic degrees in India have limited scope. Is that really the case?

I'm pursuing an MSc in Neurosciences, have cleared the CSIR JRF, and plan to join a lab in India as a JRF before aiming for a PhD, preferably abroad.

An MSc in Chemistry offers good prospects, especially in the pharma or chemical industry where salaries are decent. Government and PSU roles also exist—like state pollution control boards, fertilizer companies, food‑drug testing labs, IOCL, BPCL, and other labs—but they're posted infrequently and competition is stiff. Other options include petrochemicals, oil refineries, power plants, polymer, brass, metal industries, and testing labs, though they generally pay less than pharma.
