Title: Is Parineeti Chopra fit for girl‑next‑door roles?
Post by: Lakshmi on Apr 08, 2026, 07:34 AM
Talking about her roles in most movies, I noticed she's done many non‑glamorous, relatable characters – flawed in some way, not perfect, just like everyone. I'm not a huge fan of her acting, but the characters were good and, in my view, well‑played. Her looks in most films had minimal makeup. I really think she fits the girl‑next‑door type. (Not a PR, just sharing my opinion.)

She was literally my favourite when the trio – her, Shraddha and Alia – debuted. Loved her in *Hasee Toh Phasee*; it was my top movie back then... then she just vanished.

If only she could act without overacting.

She was more than that. Sandeep and Pinky Farar don't get enough credit. I wish she wasn't lazy and chose different roles.

Also, Karan Johar caused a lot of trouble for his contemporaries – Parineeti, Ileana and even Shraddha.

Shraddha stayed afloat because she's pretty, liked by the masses, has chemistry and knows her limits.

Parineeti spent too much time on weight loss instead of getting fitter.

Wasted potential.

She was such a direct threat to Alia that Karan Johar and Alia made sure her career was halted before it could take off.

She was good, but she kind of faded over time. *Ishaqzaade* remains her best, in my opinion, with a few others like *Shaadi Ke Side Effects*.
She's been inconsistent. She was terrible in *The Girl in the Train* and the weakest part of the otherwise great *Chamkila*. She's still okay there, just a bit low on energy.

If she truly is the girl‑next‑door, I'll become a pizza delivery guy.

She was amazing in *Meri Pyaari Bindu*—a film I'll cherish forever—and she looked really pretty in that role.

She was so good in *Ladies vs Ricky Bahl* and *Ishaqzaade*. I actually expected her to go farther than Priyanka Chopra because of her cute, symmetrical features.
Sadly, someone convinced her she was fat, and after losing a lot of weight she seemed like a different person.

Ideally she could have benefited from social‑cause films like *Ayushman*, *Rajkumar* or *Bhumi* did. She missed that chance.
