I've always had wavy, silky hair, but every shampoo I tried seemed to weigh it down and nothing really worked. After about 3‑4 days I'd notice a weird buildup on my scalp – not dandruff though.
So for the past 2 years I stopped buying regular shampoo bottles and started trying sustainable brands like Arani Ecosteps, BareEssentials, Javi, etc.
I tried the Arani shampoo (Shikekai version); it was okay, just left my hair a bit dry after washing.
Then I ordered their charcoal shampoo bar and the small Minimalist Frizz Control Serum.
And woah!! My scalp feels super clean, my hair feels silky, and there's no buildup at all. I even used the bar after oiling – it removed the oil 100%.
These are the only products I've been using for the last 6 months, so I thought I'd share. If you're dealing with that weird buildup, give these a try.

That black ball totally looks like a bath bomb, yaar.
Thanks for the recommendations! I'm curious—do you use any conditioners or anything else in your routine?
What's that black thing?
Sis, your hair looks amazing. That said, my bullshit meter goes off whenever I hear 'sustainable' and 'vegan' instead of something dermatologist‑approved or science‑backed. (I'm talking about the shampoo bar).
