Title: Anyone else stuck in a similar situation?
Post by: Prakash on Mar 08, 2026, 02:19 PM
I used to say I didnt want to be a part of the crowd, you know, just doing some job for the sake of it for my whole life. I wanted to do something on my own. But now I am just looking for a job that pays at least 20k/month so I can get by.  I am a 25 year old B.Tech CSE graduate with no job and nothing much to show for it. I am just trying to survive so I can eventually do something with my life. I dont really want to do a corporate job forever, but I guess I have to start somewhere. I am doing a Data Analyst course to get into the field, but I am not really sure what to do next. I have given over ten interviews for different roles like Quality Assurance, Software Testing, SDE, and Python Developer, but I failed all of them. Sometimes I didnt know the technical stuff well enough, but most of the time I messed up the general questions they asked.  In my last interview for a Software Testing role, the interviewer asked me where I saw myself in the next five to eight years. I said I wanted to do well in the role, become a team lead, and keep learning to get a better position. The interviewer, who was pretty nice, told me that was a bad answer. He said I should have said I wanted to stay in that role for a long time, more than 5 years.  I mean what is wrong with wanting to learn and earn more? Everyone wants that. It feels like companies just want people to work for them forever without any growth.

Most people at 22 say they dont want to be part of the rat race. By 25 most of them are just trying to get in.
