Title: Underrated Spy‑Thriller
Post by: Gopal on Apr 05, 2026, 04:44 PM
This film is truly underrated – a spy‑thriller that many have missed but love. The original plot was a gritty crime story, but it cleverly shifts into an international espionage set during World II, which is just mind‑blowing. The franchise deserved more sequels. Surprisingly, the original also hinted at the main villain's involvement in chemical warfare. Imagine that on the big screen!

Are bhai, ek naam spy sikh liya hai to har jagah pe lagta hai? He isn't a spy, he's a private detective.

He's a private detective, not a spy. Still, the movie is well‑made. Only Bengalis will get the thrill of growing up with Feluda and Byomkesh stories – our very own Holmes!

That movie is seriously underrated. I saw it in theatres and was completely blown away by the filmmaking and storytelling. It really needs a sequel.

He's a private detective, just like Sherlock Holmes.

Man, this film got weighed down by the expectations of a Byomkesh‑style movie and the usual YRF commercial hype, which never reached the right audience. Still, it was kick‑ass.

Deserves way more recognition, btw – huge fan here. Watched two shows back‑to‑back.

I've encoded this on Blu‑Ray → AV1 (under 1.5 GB). If anyone wants it, just comment and I might upload and share.

Literally the worst 'spy thriller' – because there isn't any spy at all.

People keep commenting 'As a Bengali we know he's a detective, not a spy...' Come on, the original was a crime thriller that got packaged as a spy thriller for the cinema. Read the whole post first. Also, Byomkesh never liked the word 'detective'; he called himself a 'Satyanweshi'. So that mistake wasn't expected.

Swastika Mukherjee looked absolutely breathtaking in this film.
