Title: They ignore Indian viewers, skimp on cameras & deliver low‑quality broadcasts
Post by: Usha on Apr 03, 2026, 02:34 PM
The production quality is unbelievably poor – it's like our roads, held back by corruption at lower levels of bureaucracy. They assume Indians won't fight back or complain, just suffer through it. Think about where the money is actually going. They even skimp on commentary, using friends instead of professional commentators. The direction, live switching, and camera cuts miss every important moment. They'd rather show close‑ups of women than the players' strategies or emotions. The direction lacks any effort to immerse us emotionally; it's the lowest‑IQ direction I've ever seen. It feels like some random relative got the job. Every aspect of the production suffers because they don't treat us as humans, just as cattle or NPCs.

A guy on Instagram posted a reel comparing FPS between baseball and cricket, and it showed how far behind we are tech‑wise. They're cutting costs to boost revenue, and moments like this break fans' trust and excitement for the IPL.

Brother, you can't see better quality because of broadcasting bandwidth limits. They already have high‑quality pictures and multiple screens; choosing the angle is the broadcasters' job.

We are taken for granted. They don't give us anything decent despite the huge money they make from us. I'm always shocked when I compare the FPS of BBL and IPL, and BBL isn't even taken seriously by Australian fans.

We have no choice but to watch whatever they show, and they know IPL will attract millions. Half the audience is from rural India, where quality isn't a priority, so the BCCI will never invest in better production.

I could feel the ball bounce clearly – you don't need a 4K camera to notice that.

This issue should be trending so the board knows people are noticing it.

I've noticed the quality has actually deteriorated over the years. Maybe they haven't upgraded their gear in 20 years and are pocketing the new money. There's also no instant graphics to show sixes and fours with height measured in seconds. And they keep finding new ways to earn more – like the bird's‑eye cam promoted by Kingfisher. Lol.

We need more broadcasters. If there's only one, they won't bother with good quality and have no competition. For now, we can keep talking about it on social media and hope Jio loses this contract soon. On the plus side, yesterday's English commentary was pretty good – they even had Anjum Chopra, the former women's cricketer, and I loved her insights.

For the broadcasters, most of the audience aren't the paying customers; they're just consumers. The real customers are the advertisers.

In India we're used to low‑quality food, so why expect high‑quality screening?
