Took a stroll down memory lane with this video... I can still see everyone from our apartment building coming out and dancing.
All of us kids, our older cousins and parents were over the moon. My cousins and I grabbed our bats and played cricket in the gully for an hour. Nobody cared about getting out; we just reenacted the final moments, kept chatting about how thrilling the match was, talked about Harbhajan crying and Gambhir's jersey getting stained.
I remember that night so clearly. As a kid I was overjoyed – life wasn't always happy, but moments like that lit up my world.
I really hope, maybe dreaming too much, that Rohit and Kohli lift the cup again. That would bring the biggest smile I've ever had watching this sport. Thanks for reminding me of this post; you brought back a core memory!
